Long distance running has a very long tradition in our region. The first 40km run took place in 1924, however it is since 1983 we have been organising an annual run on a full marathon distance.

In 2009 for the first time in the history of the marathon the course of the race ran between two of the largest cities of the region: Bydgoszcz and Toruń and it took the name of the Metropolis Marathon. The organizers would like the start and finish line to be placed alternately in both cities. In 2011 the runners will start in Bydgoszcz and finish in Torun. In addition to the race on the attested distance of 42km and 195m there will be other runs: a half-marathon and a 4km „Run for Fun”.

All the races will take place on the 15th may 2011 and the main run will start at 10 AM.

Start fees for foreign participants amount to:

1st deadline: till 1st March 2011 – 20 EURO
2nd deadline: till 13st May 2011 – 30 EURO
after 13 st May entry fee increases to 50 EURO

The organised does not guarantee the receipt of the kit bag to persons applying after 13 st of May. The kit bag includes a sport shirt of a well-known brand with the logo of the marathon, an energy drink and other gadgets.

The organiser provides bus transport for all the participants from Bydgoszcz to the start line, medical care and a meal after the race. There will be nutrition points on the course every 5km. On the eve of the marathon we invite you to a Pasta Party and during the whole of the event to “Marathon-Expo” offering sport clothing and equipment.

We guarantee many great sport and tourist experiences. We would like to remind you that Toruń, where the marathon ends was entered on the UNESCO World Heritage list thanks to its historical value.
